Juan M Guayasamin is an Ecuadorian biologist with a "great" sense of humor. Currently, he is a researcher and professor at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, where he studies the evolution, ecology, systematics, and conservation of neotropical biodiversity, mostly glassfrogs and rainfrogs. In 2007, he obtained his PhD in ecology and evolutionary biology at the University of Kansas. Since 2009, he has mentored and supported the emerging team of researchers at Tropical Herping. Juan is author of two books (including The Amphibians and Reptiles of Mindo), four book chapters, and 84 scientific articles. He has described 5 genera of amphibians and 59 new species to science.
